Dear Parents, Players, and Coaches,
The New “Forty Week College Planning Homework Guide for High School Baseball Seniors” provides invaluable guidance for getting through the daunting college planning process. Much more than just a collection of good advice, however, the Guide provides forty weeks of actual “homework” assignments designed to take seniors and their families through each phase of college planning. This systematic program enables families to feel more in control of their son’s future, and it lessens the anxiety associated with such a life-changing decision.
During my twenty-eight years teaching and coaching baseball in a college prep school, I have seen many families struggle with the various application forms, the expense of college visits, the uncertainties of paying college tuition, and the general stress engendered by seeing a child head off to an institution of higher learning and to a collegiate baseball program. The Forty Week College Planning Homework Guide teaches families to manage the plethora of details, the forms, the stress, and the expense by providing a clear, concise plan of action.
The Guide teaches players to start the process early with suggestions for pre-planning in the sophomore and junior years. It then maps out each week of the senior year with specific college-planning assignments for both players and parents. Additional topics include applying for financial aid, presenting oneself to college coaches, and insuring that the college process is sane and exciting in spite of its challenges.
"I recommend the “Forty Week College Planning Homework Guide” to all families involved now or in the future in the college baseball planning and recruiting process."
This Guide clearly embraces the WBP ™ philosophy that athletes deserve the opportunity to play baseball for an academic institution that will serve their needs not only as college students, but also as successful adults long after their playing days have ended. I intend to use this superb resource to plan the college baseball careers of my own two sons when the time comes.
Thank you, David M. Wick
