Team Avenue Baseball, led by former LA Dodger player, Thomari Story-Harden President of Team Avenue Baseball and Central Valley RBI - a division of MLB Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities program, has created an experience for 30, (13U and 15U) players that will undoubtedly be remembered by them for a lifetime.
It was said that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. How does an international baseball tournament experience with a trip to Beijing, the People’s Republic of China sound? Team Avenue Baseball has been in talks with youth baseball organizers in Beijing, China to bring over players which will make up "The Team Avenue Aces 13U and 15U International Baseball Club." These players will be put on the international stage August 1 - 8, 2012 playing in the 22nd Annual Beijing International Youth Baseball Championships against teams from around the world.
Story-Harden a 6'7, 270lb first baseman and local standout from El Cerrito High, starred in football and baseball before getting drafted in the 8th Round of the 1998 Amateur Draft by the LA Dodgers. He is no stranger to International play. Thomari as a player in 1997 and as a Head Coach in 2004, 2005 and 2008 headed a group of U16 players to Australia to participate in the Goodwill Series with much success.
Story-Harden states," This is a rare but important opportunity for our young developing players to represent their country on an international stage. They will learn from the experience as baseball players and ambassadors, develop great friendships with their teammates and international tournament competition but more importantly develop their inner strength, goodwill and courage as young people."
Both 13U and 15U International and National players from the USA, Canada and abroad will all have an opportunity to make up this elite and diverse roster of youth superstars with a team roster cutoff date set for May 1, 2012.
"Baseball today is without boundaries and every young person deserves a chance to play, learn and grow. It is up to those guys who have had their shot at it to give back to the youth and inspire them to become great people through baseball, says Story-Harden."
Team Avenue Baseball will also be hosting a series of 2012 Youth Baseball identification baseball clinics, camps and tournaments all year as well as evaluation sessions to assist in making final roster picks. Click below for more information.
